  • 1 Large Classical Architectural Reclaimed Georgian Robert Adam Style Wood Fireplace Surround.  
  • A definitive in the Georgian style fireplace, ideally suited to drawing rooms, living rooms and dining rooms country or town houses.
  • Adorned with fine recessed fluting 2 double column uprights to the front.
  • Featuring a breakfront mantel and impressive garland urns detailing.
  • Having a white painted finish.
  • Robert Adam born 1728 died 1792 was a Scottish neoclassical architect, interior designer and furniture designer.
  • In 1754, he left for Rome, spending nearly five years on the continent studying architecture under Charles-Louis Clérisseau and Giovanni Battista Piranesi.
  • On his return to Britain he established a practice in London, where he was joined by his younger brother James.
  • Here he developed the "Adam Style" The Adam brothers were the first to advocate an integrated style for architecture and interiors, with walls, ceilings, fireplaces, furniture, fixtures, fittings and carpets.
  • All being designed by the Adams as a single uniform scheme.  
  • Commonly and mistakenly known as "Adams Style," the proper term for this style of architecture and furniture is the "Style of the Adam Brothers.
  • It came from out a rather large country home in Derbyshire.
  • The private seller advised he had it fitted originally from new in 1981.
  • You will need 2 people to lift as its a very large & heavy item 40kg approx. 
  • Offered in overall fine used condition.
  • Having some cracking, wear, stains, scuffs, scratches, chips commensurate with usage & age.
  • It will need some restoration.
  • No hearth.
  • Circa late 20th century 1981. As it has the date written on the back when it was installed.
  • Made from a solid wood back & moulded fibreglass front.
